The Problem

"This much we know: If we put toxic chemicals into the ground, they will eventually end up in the ground water we drink. Chlorination of our water began around 1900. In 1900, just 3% of Americans were diagnosed with cancer. Today the American Cancer Society estimates that close to 40% of women and 50% of men will get cancer. There is a universal agreement among researchers that diet plays a major role in almost all types of cancer. The poisoning of our food and water supply is a phenomenon of the last half of the second century; who can doubt there is a connection?

Drinking chlorinated water kills the friendly bacteria needed for proper food digestion. It also causes atherosclerosis, heart attacks and strokes.

Chlorine combined with natural organic matter creates cancer causing trihalomethanes (THMs) or disinfection by-products (DBPs). Higher levels of THMs result in higher levels of cancer.

There are over 600 DBPs in municipal treated water and only a few DBPs are regulated. Scientists estimate there are 600 more DBPs that have not been identified.

Skin absorption rates for toxic chemicals show much higher rates than oral ingestion. Inhalation from showering can be up to 100 times greater than from drinking the water.

Hard drinking water with higher amounts of total dissolved solids (or minerals) are both associated with lower mortality from heart disease and cancer. There are 10% to 15% more cardiovascular deaths in soft water areas than in hard water areas.

TDS, hardness and high pH water can protect us from cancer. 10% to 25% reduction in cancer deaths can be contributed to a higher level of TDS and pH above 7.

Creating "Healthy Water" or "Living Water" means removing the harmful agents while keeping the beneficial minerals. Minerals in drinking water are more easily and better absorbed than minerals from food.

Water softeners do remove beneficial minerals and add salt to your water and the environment.
